Nutritional Therapy
What is Nutritional Therapy?“Nutritional therapy is a system of healing based on the belief that food, as nature intended, provides the medicine we need to obtain and maintain a state of health: our food is our medicine and our medicine is our food.”
Good nutrition is essential for health as every process in the body depends on the nutrients which a good diet provides. Food is the body’s fuel and eating the wrong types can have a detrimental effect on your health.
Ideally a balanced diet should provide all that our bodies need. Unfortunately the stresses of modern day life encourage us to make poor food choices such as convenience food which is nutrient depleted and highly processed.
Food that we eat can have effects on numerous aspects of our health such as mood, energy levels and digestive wellness. Nutrients from food are essential to provide the building blocks of the body including the formation of hormones, enzymes, blood, anti-bodies and neurotransmitters (brain chemicals). The body can become “out of balance” due to modern day life and poor food choices. Dietary changes can often help to restore balance in the body elevating it into a state of optimum health.

A nutritional therapy consultation will involve an assessment of your health with the use of a detailed questionnaire. The process will take between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes. Following the questionnaire information and ideas will be given on suitable food choices, possible lifestyle adaptions and any supplements whichare considered to be helpful.Following your consultation a full report will be produced detailing the findings from the consultation. During a consultation a lot of information is given which can easily be forgotten afterwards, therefore a report is helpful to provide a source of reference to refer to.

Nutritional therapy is used to help restore balance in the body and it may help to alleviate symptoms of many conditions. It does not however replace orthodox medicine or indeed deem to diagnose or cure disease.
